About the Book
This book is designed to enhance an operation and maintenance engineer to become a successful water treatment engineer. It is intended to help an engineer on the field to understand the basic engineering of a water treatment plant. Furthermore, it provides explanation to most of the parameters used in the water treatment plant with basic engineering calculations. Finally, it will guide an engineer to have a proper assessment of the performance of the plant and offers some tips on basic maintenance and troubleshooting to optimize an UPW plant operation.

APPENDIX

About the Author Paul Tan has been responsible for high-purity water and wastewater engineering since 1992, and has worked with numerous high-purity water and wastewater systems, and technologies from a wide range of suppliers. He has worked for semiconductor manufacturers owned by multinational, European, Taiwanese, and American companies. Mr. Tan has also worked for water treatment equipment makers. His experience as an operations and maintenance engineer, as well as designer of high-purity water plants, and as supervisor to water treatment systems at different times allows him a broad spectrum of knowledge and perspectives in optimizing the performance of a high-purity water plant. He has presented various technical papers in wide areas of high-purity water treatment technology in international platforms such as Semiconductor Pure Water and Chemical Conference, conducted in the United States, and Ultrapure Water® Asia Conferences. He has also contributed articles to technical periodicals such as Future Fabs International, and ULTRAPURE WATER® journal. Mr. Tan is currently employed by a semiconductor company. His present position includes work focusing on future semiconductor water treatment requirements, research on high-purity water systems, and as a Group Leader for the Facilities Water Technical Board.
